"On The Beach"

When a Deloitte consultant is not staffed on a project and is working out of his/her local office, they are considered to be "On The Beach". This is where I'm at. I'm right smack dab in the middle of a sand castle. It is always better to be staffed on a project because then you are being utilized and upping your utilization rate. This, in turn, affects your year-end performance reviews.

I'll only be on the beach until Friday though. Next week I will be in downtown Los Angeles for software training and staying at the Hyatt Regency Los Angeles. My training is for IBM's WebSphere, particularly getting an overview of WebSphere Business Integration Message Broker (WBIMB) Version 5. After that, back "on the beach" until I find out what my next project will be. I'll have to fill in the details later of what WebSphere actually is and how I will be using it. It is basically a way to integrate different systems and processes among and across enterprises so that they can all share and use the same data. More to come on this piece of software as I spend every moment of next week learning about it.
